The new Garner Recreation Center is now open, at the corner of Montague and Main streets in Downtown Garner.
The 40,000-square-foot facility includes three basketball courts, an art studio, a class fitness room, a multipurpose room, and an elevated indoor track.
Exercise equipment is available on the second level with views out large windows.
Outdoors, there is a multipurpose field and walking trail.
The opening hours in August are: 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays. [town site]
